TRIVIA / CURIOSITÀ

· All Dane Sea Line
ferries were registered in Rhodes, the headquarter of the company; only the “Leros” escaped that rule. · The company initially
chose for the “Diagoras” the name of “Lindos”, a town on Rhodes island which gave the name also
to a ro/ro between 1985
and 1995, the only time that the company chose a name already used for
another ferry. The islands of Kalymnos and Kos,
which were among the main ports of the company, weren’t chosen, as it
happened for Patmos, Leros and Rhodes. · Dane Sea Line had
three different liveries on their ferries; the first one, on “Kamiros” and “Ialyssos” hadn’t
the company name on the sides and a blue stripe round the ferry; after the
purchase of the “Rodos” this livery was altered by
eliminating the blue stripe and adding the company name on sides, a livery
adopted till the end of the company; finally the ro/ro “Lindos” always operated
with a blue-painted hull, which was later implemented with company name on
sides. · The “Ialyssos”, probably the most-known vessel of the company,
was the only one forced to abandon the service due to the reached age-limit,
in 2001. -
The “Prevelis”, after the
purchase by Anek Lines, worked for some time on
DANE network, but never wore the signs of the company. -
No one of DANE ferries was longer than 150 metres:
this was due to the port of Kalymnos, unsuitable
for ferries longer than that figure. |
· Tutte le navi Dane Sea Line erano registrate a
Rodi, sede della compagnia; solo la “Leros” faceva eccezione. · Inizialmente per la “Diagoras”
la compagnia aveva scelto il nome di Lindos,
località di Rodi che già aveva dato il nome ad un ro/ro tra il 1985 ed il
1995, unico caso di riutilizzo del nome nella storia della compagnia. Rimaste
a bocca asciutta le isole di Kalymnos e Kos, che avrebbero potuto dare il proprio nome al nuovo
arrivo. · La Dane Sea
Line ha adottato tre differenti livree nella sua
storia: la prima, utilizzata su “Kamiros” e “Ialyssos”, non prevedeva il nome della compagnia sulle
murate ed aveva una striscia blu attorno alla nave circa all’altezza del
nome; questa livrea nel 1989 con la “Rodos” si è
evoluta col nome della compagnia e l’eliminazione della striscia blu lungo la
nave; la ro/ro “Lindos” infine, ha sempre operato
con uno scafo blu, che successivamente è stato completato col nome della
compagnia. · La “Ialyssos”, nave storica
della compagnia di Rodi, è stata l’unica ad abbandonare la compagnia a causa
del limite dei 35 anni di età raggiunto durante il proprio servizio. -
La “Prevelis”, dopo l’acquisizione della nave da parte di Anek Lines, lavorò per qualche
mese sul network di DANE, ma non ha mai portato segni della compagnia di
Rodi. -
Nessuna nave della
DANE ha mai superato la lunghezza di 150 metri: questo a causa della
difficoltà di attracco nel porto di Kalymnos,
inadatto ad accogliere navi di lunghezza superiore a tale misura. |
