Built
in 1990 as the “New Tosa” for Osaka Kochi Tokkyu Ferry, a company which operated mainly between
Shikoku island and Osaka, had the “Ferry Kochi” as fleet mate, a ship which
came to Greece six years later as the “Theologos P”.
Her name originates by the historical name of Kochi region on Shikoku island,
and it’s also the name of a dog breed typical of that Japanese area; plus of
that, it’s also the name of a corner of “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” circuit of Imola, Italy, even if in this latter case the “Tosa” name surely has other origins. The latest acquisition
of Dodecanese-based Dane Sea Line, her name is that of Lindos
town, a beautiful centre on south-east coast of Rhodes island, and this name
was already used for a Ro/Ro purchased in 1985. She arrived in Greece in
October 2000 and sent to Perama yards, where she was
heavily refitted building a passenger deck in the upper garage, where only a
little space was left for the cars; she received also a new, modern external
appearance. The ship entered service on September 2001 as “Diagoras”,
a name which seems to have been chosen by ANEK board; on July 2006, after the
bankruptcy of the company, was bought by Blue Star Ferries, which maintained
her name.
