Line

I don’t know many details of this ferry: built for Si.Re.Na., the State-owned company which linked Sicily with smaller islands around the bigger island of the Mediterranean, was then transferred to Si.Re.Mar., even on routes to Egadi islands. She left Sicily in 2000 for another company of Tirrenia Group, Adriatica, being deployed to Tremiti Islands service, even if I think that she was not carrying passengers but only dangerous cargo and garbage. In 2005 both the “Canaletto” and the “San Domino”, the other ferry serving Tremiti Islands were replaced on the route by a newer ferry and the “Canaletto” was laid-up at Brindisi, awaiting her destiny; sold for scrap in early 2006, was towed away by a tug having Alang as her final destination, but she sank in Greek waters.
